Paris + London Residency
The Icon. Two cities. A broader body of professional work.
Where Travel Creators Become Professionals.
One creative voice. Two very different chapters.
In Paris, you might slow the story down and let a small detail carry the emotion. In London, you might follow the action and build around a familiar ritual. The two-city residency gives you room to discover how your voice changes with the setting.
Your portfolio can show both consistency and range: a recognisable creator making deliberate choices in two different environments.

Show what your skills can do across two markets.
Paris and London each tell their own stories. Your task is to turn those stories into a structured portfolio that expresses your skills, your perspective and the value you can create for a client.
Use two settings to develop work across destination tourism, products, travel technology, services, accommodations and local businesses. Explore how a different context changes the story while your professional method holds it together.
Build a purposeful body of work from which you can select relevant examples for tourism bureau pitches, product and service brands, accommodation providers and local businesses. Demonstrate range through purposeful work in the field.
Practise using the needs of a traveller and a prospective client to shape your brief, select relevant assets and explain your offer. A broader portfolio does not guarantee a commission.
Make the second city a creative test.
Carry your method from London into Paris. Decide what belongs to your signature and what should change with the audience, subject and pace of the story.
How do you express the same purpose through different images? What happens when the approach that worked in one city needs to evolve in the next? The value is in the comparison.
An illustrative brief: help a traveller decide
Question: “Can a solo traveller visit this attraction comfortably without renting a car?” Use London and Paris as the setting for this illustrative teaching example, not a confirmed assignment location or itinerary.
Your evidence: Plan coverage of the route, walking distance, entrance, practical obstacles and return journey. Define whose needs you are addressing. Date any transport information you use, and state what you have not verified.
Your portfolio work: Plan an edited video and three photographs that help the viewer assess the journey. Review whether the evidence answers the question, then explain your creative choices in a short context note.
See the skills and working process to follow the example from brief through planning, production and review. No completed resident work or verified route is claimed here.
Give the journey its own story.
The planned London-to-Paris Eurostar transition offers a narrative between the two chapters: departure, movement, anticipation and arrival. Travel itself becomes material for a purposeful story.
The rail story travel day sits alongside four residency days in each city. The spring travel day is March 27, 2027; the autumn travel day is November 6, 2027. Residents book and pay for their own Eurostar tickets; the fare is not included in the residency fee. TCI provides guidance and recommends a train for the London-to-Paris transfer. Travelling on that train is optional. Residents may travel separately, but must arrive in Paris by the required deadline shared in their preparation materials. Residents travelling separately complete the rail-story assignment independently. Travel instructions are shared in the registered residents’ preparation materials.
A portfolio with breadth and a point of view.
Imagine presenting Paris and London work together: distinct in atmosphere, connected by the quality of your thinking. Show how you observe, adapt and create a coherent body of work across locations.
Choose both cities to test your creative approach twice and build a richer story about the kind of travel creator you are becoming.
Skills you can practise and take forward
Adapt your plan: Use the same brief to ask what evidence changes between London and Paris. Keep your audience and purpose clear while you adjust your coverage and creative treatment.
Compare your work: Review the two city chapters side by side. Identify what stays recognisable in your style, what needs a different approach and how to select relevant assets for a pitch.
Your daily starting point remains at least one edited video and three photographs across eight residency days. Use the two cities and rail-story travel day to develop the core offering of five finished category pitch videos, 100 distinct shots, your portfolios and an extensive b-roll library. Your daily edits may contribute to the pitch videos.

Build a portfolio with range and purpose
Five finished brand pitch videos: Create one for each of five travel categories: accommodation; attractions and tourism; transport and travel services; food and hospitality; and travel tech and gear. Each introduces your approach, shows relevant work and explains the value you can offer brands in that category.
100 distinct shots: Your residency includes a resident-only shoot-planning resource to help you build a broad collection of footage for your portfolio videos and reusable b-roll library. The detailed shoot lists are shared with enrolled residents.
Your portfolios: Select finished category work for your creative portfolio. Build a compact creator portfolio with an introduction, selected examples, services, contact details and short project descriptions explaining your decisions. Leave with a completed starter portfolio, or a structured foundation with finished pieces, organised supporting assets and a clear completion plan.
Your reusable b-roll library: Create in some of London and Paris’s most iconic settings and everyday travel environments. Organise an extensive footage library you can draw from for future client projects, recording locations, permissions and usage restrictions.
The four-day residency establishes this core portfolio offering. Paris + London gives you more time and two settings to develop its range and depth. Five category pitch videos and 100 distinct shots describe the core offering, rather than five videos per city.
