Your outcome
A researched prospect list, tailored pitch, and follow-up plan.
The brief
Choose a travel service you can responsibly deliver. Research ten real businesses using public information. Prepare a pitch for the best-fit prospect. This assignment is preparation only; sending the pitch is optional and is not required for completion.
Complete these steps
- Define your offer in 50–80 words: target client, deliverables, relevant proof, location or travel constraints, and the customer need you can address.
- Create a table of ten prospects. For each include name, sector, official website, date checked, two verified facts, one content opportunity, timing or access considerations, and a public business contact route or role to research.
- Score each prospect from 0–2 on service fit, evidence of a relevant opportunity, practical feasibility, and strength of your matching samples. Record the total out of eight and explain your top choice.
- For the top prospect, write a 120–180 word pitch with subject line, specific observation, proposed concept, relevant portfolio link, and a low-pressure invitation to discuss scope. State that you are proposing content services.
- Write two follow-ups of 40–80 words each. Plan them for 7 and 14 business days after the original message, unless the business requests different timing. Stop after the second unanswered follow-up.
- Create a tracker with Draft, Sent, Replied, Scope Requested, Closed, and Do Not Contact statuses. Record what would make you stop or change your approach.
Final deliverables
- One spreadsheet or table containing ten prospects and all scoring.
- One document containing the offer statement, tailored pitch, two follow-ups, and follow-up dates or timing.
- Links to three relevant portfolio samples and a 100-word explanation of why they fit the chosen prospect.
Completion checklist
Review your work against every item below. If an item is missing, revise before considering the assignment complete.
- Research: facts are traceable to public sources and assumptions are labelled.
- Fit: the proposed work matches your evidence, capacity, and the business.
- Pitch: the message is specific, concise, and clear about the service.
- Proof: samples support the proposed work without false experience claims.
- Follow-up: the plan is finite, respectful, and honours any refusal.
Time to plan
Allow 3–5 hours. Research depth and existing portfolio readiness affect the time required.
Keep your work organised
Use a folder named TCIS-103_YourName with subfolders for Planning, Working Files, and Final. Use clear filenames such as TCIS-103_YourName_Brief_v01.pdf. Keep private client information out of public portfolio samples.
